“Don’t blame the people of Illinois for the mess. The votes of regular citizens have little weight. The process is primarily controlled by unionized government employees and retired government employees who will vote for satan so long as their bloated salaries and unbelievable pensions and other retirement benefits are protected. The Department of Labor claims there are 800,000 government employees in Illinois. Add in retirees, dependents and wannabes and you have a significant block of voters, contributors and campaign workers. Further add in a bit of voter apathy which is significant, especially in off-presidential years, and the Democratic-Republican Combine, as it’s called, is unstoppable. Illinois is a public employee union dictatorship, with all the by-products of such a system. And God help us all in Illinois if the public employee union pension plans start failing. The politicians will tax us into oblivion to protect their workforce which votes and works the way its told. And, I hope I’m wrong, but president elect Obama was nutured in this cess pool, and I can’t believe it has not affected him.”
